President Trump

February 6, 2017 by admin 27 Comments

Pops says Trump will make America great again.

Our new president is, at the minimum, unique.  No doubt he stumbles over gaffs pretty regularly, and he is absolutely toxic to liberal sensitivities, but he certainly doesn’t blanche when it comes to doing things – lots and lots of things.  The media can’t keep up, the leftists’ vacuous heads are imploding, and myriad paid protesters are racking up incredible amounts of frequent flyer miles.  The pundits gape wordlessly in amazement like they just witnessed a UFO land on the White House lawn.  The guy is an absolute balls-to-the-wall insomniac who doesn’t know the meaning of surrender, and if he can’t get this country unstuck, then nobody can.  He is an American Icarus. (Don’t fly too close to the sun, Mr. President.)  I really like the fellow, warts and all.  Elections really do mean something.  MAGA, baby!

Southpaw thinks Trump will destroy the planet.

The slogan “Make America Great Again” is a total crock. This isn’t to say that I don’t believe in the greatness of our country, but I fail to see a time within America’s short history that our nation hasn’t been riddled with controversy. Are we talking about the days of early colonialism and the near genocide of the Native American race? Are we talking about the use of slave labor over the course of centuries to boost economic gain? Are we talking about the 13 declared wars (and additional conflicts) over the past 241 years? Maybe we should just return to the time that “colored folks” couldn’t vote! Whether you’re discussing the controversial birth of our nation, or the various other issues plaguing us now, America has never been exempt from strife. We are a nation marred in conflict, which has allowed us to learn from our mistakes, given us strength and made us into the great nation we are today. “Make America Great Again” is a delusional slogan, because it makes the American people believe that Mr. Trump is going to bring them into a new era of prosperity that resembles the past. However, if we are to look at the history of this country, we have never experienced this Utopian era that he speaks of. If you want to look at American infrastructure, he wants to make Americans in the flyover states believe that he’s going to bring back the days of the American factory worker. This is coming from a man who has continuously outsourced labor to other countries to increase his personal gain. If we want to refer to the ever-present state of conflict that America has been in since its birth, I want to remind you that Trump has zero diplomatic experience. When it comes to both foreign and domestic policy, he has already shown that he is completely inept within his first 3 weeks in office. What I have seen in Trump is someone who can continuously tell the American people how poor of a state the country is in, but none of what he’s said is grounded in factual evidence. He’s told you that crime is at an all-time high, when it’s lower than it’s ever been. He’s told you that we need to build a wall to do away with our illegal immigration issue, but hasn’t come up with a solution that would allow us to combat illegal immigration. (Quick side note: The majority of illegal immigrants in this country are coming in legally and overstaying their visas.)  Also, there has been a massive decline in Mexican immigration, and an increase in immigration from Asian and African countries. So, unless you plan to shut down airlines, restrict the provision of visas to anyone foreign, or plan to build additional “sea walls” in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, you’re not going to change a thing by building a barrier on the southern border. He’s said in speeches that the American unemployment rate is somewhere in the double digits, when we have an actual federal agency (The Bureau of Labor and Statistics) reporting that it’s at 4.9%. Donald Trump has gotten this far by manipulating the American people into believing that he’s the solution to all their problems. The only thing he’s proven is that he’s in over his head, operating on a system of beliefs that aren’t grounded in facts.

Melting Snowflakes

February 4, 2017 by admin 27 Comments

Pops thinks that the Berkeley snowflakes should have been arrested.

Whoever named these children “snowflakes” was right on the money.  (Delicate little pretty things that have to stay in a perfect environment, otherwise they melt into a puddle.)

Whine and cry all you like, little ones, but when you break other people’s stuff, you gotta pay the piper.  Lock ’em up!

Southpaw’s take on “snowflakes.”

Whenever conservatives use the term “Liberal Snowflakes”, I can’t help but laugh at the savage hypocrisy being committed. No, this isn’t me supporting the acts committed by the protestors in Berkeley. If you want your voice to be heard, fine. Protest peacefully or attend Milo’s rally to challenge him intellectually. When your protest transitions into an angry mob, your message is diluted and the validity of your cause is diminished. However, I digress from my original point. It seems that the left’s desire to protest or combat any issue is often met with a conservative eye roll. Republican’s believe that Democrats should suck up their grievances and go home. However, whenever I see people protesting outside of planned parenthood, fighting for “Religious Freedom” or generating any sort of fuss related to a more conservative cause, their efforts are considered just. If anything, publicly criticizing the opposition for expressing their displeasure with policy or government is something that conservative’s consistently take pride in. I can’t support the acts committed by these specific protestors; however, I can think of several situations where liberals were still criticized in cases where they were protesting peacefully. The real question I have for the right is: What makes you exercising your First Amendment rights so strong and makes the left doing the same so weak? Do you even want these people to protest peacefully, or do you really just want them to shut up and go home?
