A little kumbaya

February 17, 2017 by Southpaw 32 Comments

Buckle up, because a Liberal is about to defend the Trumps.

I’m sorry, but is Whoopi Goldberg the last sane person in this country? The Trump family has been under constant fire since “The Donald” announced his candidacy. Barron was referred to as the “first homeschool shooter” by SNL writer, Katie Rich, Ivanka had her fashion line pulled from Nordstrom’s and now Tiffany Trump is being shunned at NY Fashion Week. I understand that people from all over the country have their own personal grievances with our President, but targeting his family is completely out of line. His children didn’t have any say in their father becoming our president. If anything, we can only blame his presidency on our own party’s complacency during the election. However, it seems that members of the general public are doing everything they can to make these people’s lives a living hell. Liberal “Social Justice Warriors” seem to be the most hypocritical party of them all. They consistently preach for the equal treatment and humanization of others, but seem to backtrack from that ideal as soon as someone disagrees with them. Throw politics aside for a moment and focus on the most essential truth: We’re all human. The moment where political opinion turns into disdain for one another is the point that we should all want to avoid. I for one am happy that Ms. Goldberg chose to outwardly do such a kind thing for Tiffany. To those who disagree with me, answer this one question: What did Tiffany Trump ever do except for have the same last name as her father?

Hooray! “Bigotry” is Dead!

February 17, 2017 by admin 28 Comments

When is the last time you heard someone use the term “bigot?”

Defined as “a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices,” you would think that in today’s hostile social environment, people would be hurling the “bigot” title at each other like mashed potatoes in a food fight. But strangely, they don’t. Nobody is just a “bigot” anymore, because anybody who displays prejudice against anything or anyone is now labeled a “racist.”  It is a misuse of the term.

“Racist” is defined as “a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another.”  Unfortunately, these days “race” is used to describe any arbitrary grouping, at the discretion of anyone with an axe to grind.  After creating a new “race,” anybody who disparages your arbitrary group can legitimately be labeled “racist.”

Look out! Wacists!

Have prejudice against illegal immigrants? You’re a Racist! Against people from Somalia? Racist! Against people who kneel to pray? Racist! Against liberals? Racist! Against left-handed herniated Hopi Indians? Racist!

Calling a person a racist has lost a lot of its delicious invective bite, having been effectively killed by unrestrained liberal hyperbole.  Pretty soon they will need to create a whole new term to really insult someone.

On the brighter side, “bigotry” now appears to be officially dead in America.  It’s about time.

The All Alone Star State

February 17, 2017 by admin 29 Comments

The state of Texas recently came to the aid of the Trump administration in the legal free-for-all surrounding the president’s executive order temporarily barring refugees and citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. The Texas attorneys argued in a “friend of the court” filing that Trump was well within his constitutional authority to preclude certain foreign nationals from entering the country while officials reassess the vetting procedures applicable to issuing travel visas.
Texas is the only state so far to jump into the fray for Trump, while twenty some-odd other states have taken the opposing side.
Remember the Alamo? They lost that one, too.
